Conall’s Valour Herbal Tea

When I was a kid, I was required to drink milk with every meal. No other options offered. EXCEPT, if we had company, I was allowed to drink iced tea. Oh, the luxury. Oh, the specialness of the occasion, sitting at the kids’ table, laughing with my cousins, and drinking that sweet tea from a little glass that used to be a jelly jar.  

On rare occasions when our family ate out, sweet tea was my beverage choice. Memories of being served unsweetened tea over crushed ice and stirring for what seemed like forever until the added packets of sugar dissolved. Distress at the prospect of repeating that chore every time the waitress gave everyone a refill.  

I blame my mother for my lack of tea sophistication. It would be an understatement to say she was a coffee lover. This was a woman who never made her final wishes known with one exception, she often stated she wanted her headstone to read: Here Lies a Woman Who Loved a Good Cup of Coffee. To her, tea was an afterthought.  

Then, I married a man from Belfast, Northern Ireland, David H. Millar, and he wrote the Conall series of books, wonderful Celtic tales of ancient warriors, fierce battles and fortresses, kings, demigoddesses, druids and characters on a quest, all set in a background of peat bogs, bottomless lochs, unforgiving seas, and lush forests.  

The Celts had a rich culture emphasizing community, clan, and artisanship. Inspired by David H.
